Lamb, Wine & Scholarships

The Chaîne Bailliage of New Brunswick usually holds its rotisserie event in the summer. It’s a perfect opportunity to gather while also turning the activity into a fundraiser in support of scholarships for the NBCC culinary program.
Just like last year, the event took place in early September. Much like the previous edition, Mother Nature added her own touch of autumn with heavy rainfall.
Nevertheless, this did not dampen the enthusiasm of members and their guests who accepted Zach Everett’s invitation to his wine estate at Magnetic Hill Winery.
It was indeed on Sunday, September 7, under a spacious marquee nestled in the bucolic hills of Moncton, that we witnessed the roasting of a magnificent local New Brunswick lamb. This gave way to a grand feast, carefully prepared by our Bailli, Cornel Ceapa, and his team of rotisserie chefs.

The thirty or so guests had the pleasure of enjoying this feast, accompanied by several other dishes lovingly crafted by passionate members. And as expected, these delights were beautifully complemented by a selection of equally delectable wines, including several vintages from our hosts’ vineyard. Representatives from CCNB were also on site to add a gourmet touch with a variety of accompaniments.
The warm atmosphere and generous hospitality of Zach and his family transformed this rainy day into a true celebration of local terroir. A few bottles were also sabered by the Bailli and the vineyard owner, much to the delight of the group, adding a festive flair to this memorable day. The greatest pride remains in having raised a significant amount of money for scholarships supporting the next generation of culinary talent at the New Brunswick Community College.
The next activity of the Bailliage of New Brunswick will once again take place in the Moncton area for the Gala Induction and Dinner, which will be held at the exquisite Little Louis’ Oyster Bar & Fine Cuisine, hosted by chef and owner Pierre Richard.
